Welcome to the new KDScope website.

We have a new look and feel.  We recently changed web hosts, and now have a site that is easier for us to maintain and to change as we develop new kaleidoscope designs.

Cozy's Happy Colors - Inspiration

Picture
The glaze on the original Cozy's happy colors was beautiful, but we had a problem with pinholes in the glaze, which created small sharp spots in the surface of the kaleidoscope. Then one day recently at the ceramic store, we found that even the manufacturer's sample bas those pinholes.  We also found the colorful glaze shown above which comes out of the kiln smooth and beautiful.  It's name?  Kaleidoscope.  That's eerie, huh?

Black Magic

Picture
Black Magic was the culmination of our brass and aluminum kaleidoscopes.  In a reversal of colors, the brass barrel of the scope has been plated with a sleek black diamond coating, and the aluminum parts have been gold plated.

Monet

Picture
Our Monet scope has been one of our most popular ceramic kaleidoscopes, wit its' blue background with green and yellow strokes reminiscent of Monet's painting of lilies in a garden.

Raku

Picture
With our handmade kaleidoscopes, no two are exactly alike.  Our Raku scopes are especially unique, since the special glase is cured in burning organic material which produces varying degrees of metallic sheen in the glaze.  With each firing we never know how the scope will turn out until we pull it from the curing chamber.
